An ultrasound bone mineral density (BMD) scan estimates bone strength and screens for osteoporosis risk. It is quick, painless and uses no radiation.

This scan is best added alongside a screening package, so your results are looked at together. Not sure if it’s already included in your package of choice? Check with us on the day of your appointment, or WhatsApp us to enquire now.

*This scan is done at our partner imaging centre located in the Orchard area and not at our clinic itself. Appointments are available on Mondays to Saturdays and we can help you arrange accordingly together with your health screening appointment.

Can I book this test without a health screening package?

Yes, you can. Do note that a consultation with our doctor is required for any test booked outside a screening package — so if you are doing this as a standalone test for other medical reasons, a consultation fee applies on top of the standalone price.

How will I receive my report?

Your results are emailed to you. If this test is bundled with a screening package, the findings are included in your full health screening report, which is also sent by email.

Is this test suitable for me?

That depends on your age, symptoms, family history and what your chosen package already covers. You may WhatsApp us to enquire about suitability. If your question is medical in nature — for example, whether it is medically necessary for you to undergo this test — we encourage you to discuss it further with our doctor by booking a consultation.

Can I claim this under insurance or Medisave?

Screening add-ons are generally not Medisave-claimable. However, Ultrasounds that are determined to be medically necessary and ordered for diagnostic purposes are eligible for up to $600 Medisave usage annually. Check with us for more information. 

Some corporate and insurance plans do reimburse health screenings as well. Check with your insurer, and we will provide an itemised invoice for your claim.
