How your body handles sugar and stress shapes your long-term metabolic health. This fasting blood screen checks glucose, insulin and cortisol to flag insulin resistance and early metabolic risk, so you can act early.

Three tiers of metabolic screening. Compare what each covers and pick the depth that suits you.
A fasting profile of glucose, insulin and cortisol, with an insulin-resistance score.
Adds an oral glucose tolerance test to see how your body clears a glucose load.
The fullest metabolic picture, with lactate dehydrogenase added to the OGTT profile.
Add-on prices apply when the Metabolic Screen is added to a health screening package. All tiers include a comprehensive report. Not sure which to pick? WhatsApp us and we'll advise.
What the screen looks at, why insulin resistance matters, and what early detection gives you.
Metabolic health is how well your body turns food into energy and keeps blood sugar, fats and hormones in balance. When this balance slips, insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome can develop, raising the risk of type 2 diabetes, fatty liver and heart disease, often before you notice anything. It can also have a significant impact on weight management.
Insulin helps move sugar from your blood into your cells. In insulin resistance, the cells respond less well, so the body makes more insulin to keep up. It is an early, usually silent step towards prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. The HOMA-IR score estimates it from your fasting glucose and insulin.
Insulin rises first to keep blood sugar normal, so glucose can look fine for years. Measuring insulin and HOMA-IR alongside glucose can flag insulin resistance earlier. Illustrative, not to scale.
Insulin resistance and a slower metabolism usually build up from a mix of factors. The encouraging part is that several of these, especially lifestyle, activity, diet and sleep, are within your control.
Insulin resistance and prediabetes often go undetected before they progress to type 2 diabetes. Early detection allows you the opportunity to make diet and lifestyle changes, which makes the biggest difference in reversing or improving it. Screening gives you an early picture so you can act before problems become established, guided by your doctor.
In Singapore, about 1 in 3 people has a lifetime risk of developing diabetes, [1] and in a national survey almost half of those who believed they did not have diabetes were found to have prediabetes or diabetes, [2] which shows how often it goes unnoticed. The encouraging part is that it is often modifiable: in a landmark trial, intensive diet and lifestyle changes cut progression from prediabetes to type 2 diabetes by 58 percent. [3]

Add-on pricing applies when the Metabolic Screen is booked together with any of our health screening packages, for a fuller report and overview.
Yes. This screen requires 10 to 12 hours of fasting. Plain water is allowed and keeps you hydrated for the blood draw.
Standard uses a fasting glucose with insulin and cortisol. Advanced and Comprehensive add an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) to see how your body clears a glucose load, and Comprehensive adds lactate dehydrogenase for a fuller picture.
The Standard tier is a single fasting blood draw. The Advanced and Comprehensive tiers include an OGTT, which takes about 2 hours in clinic, as blood is taken before and after a glucose drink. You can stay in the clinic and rest during the 2 hours in between, or go about your daily routine and come back 2 hours later for the second blood draw. Do take note that fasting is still required during the 2 hours break.
Insulin resistance is when the body responds less well to insulin, an early step towards type 2 diabetes. The HOMA-IR score estimates it from your glucose and insulin readings.
The Standard fasting blood draw can be done home-based. The Advanced and Comprehensive tiers include an OGTT with timed draws, so they are done in-clinic. Home-based phlebotomy charges of $25 to $40 apply.
A comprehensive medical report prepared and reviewed by the doctor will be provided to you with clear information regarding your results and next steps required, should there be any abnormal findings.
We do recommend that you still consider reviewing your results with the doctor for further clarity and individualised advice. Kindly note that additional charges shall apply for consultations and/or treatments prescribed, as these are not included in the package prices listed.
The standard tier screens for insulin resistance and early metabolic risk rather than formally diagnosing diabetes. The advanced and comprehensive tier, when paired with a health screening package that includes HbA1c, acts as confirmatory tests for diabetes.
It may suit adults concerned about blood sugar or weight, those with a family history of diabetes, and anyone wanting to check for insulin resistance or prediabetes risk, especially over age 40 or with a sedentary lifestyle.
Population figures are from Singapore national sources and trial data, and may vary by age, ethnicity and risk profile.
